More information

What's Included

A focused service designed for soft, even, natural-looking colour that suits your day-to-day routine.

  • Consultation to understand your goals, hair history and maintenance preferences.
  • Personalised shade selection to complement skin tone and existing colour.
  • Even application for an all-over refresh or targeted blending where needed.
  • Timed processing and strand checks for consistent, glossy results.
  • Aftercare guidance and a maintenance plan tailored to your routine.

Who It's For

For anyone who wants low-commitment colour that looks polished every day. Ideal for blending up to 50% grey, reviving faded lengths, softening warmth, or adding depth and shine.

Suited to busy schedules and first-time colour clients who prefer a subtle change before moving to permanent options. Also a smart top-up between highlights or balayage appointments.

Duration & Appointment Timing

Allow 90 to 120 minutes, depending on hair length, density and the finish you choose. Processing times vary by shade and hair condition.

If you are new to colour here, a quick skin test is required at least 48 hours before your appointment. Not sure on shade or coverage? Book a consultation so we can plan your colour and upkeep.

Aftercare & Maintenance

Semi permanent colour fades gradually with washing and sun exposure. Use colour-safe shampoo and conditioner, reduce heat, and protect hair before swimming to preserve tone and shine.

Most clients refresh every 4 to 6 weeks.

We will recommend home care to support your result, from heat protection to weekly conditioning.

I’ve been getting my hair done at Butler & Lawler for a while now and it is always a great experience. Yvonne is a master or colour, even when it’s growing out it still looks natural, and Debbie couldn’t give a bad cut if she tried, she’s also great with tips on how to manage your hair at home. Yvonne and Debbie are also really good company and conversation flows easily. I don’t know the rest of the staff so well but everyone is polite and friendly. I always get nice compliments about my hair after a visit to Butler & Lawler and can highly recommend the salon.

As always I have a head of hair that is perfectly coloured by Yvonne. As Yvonne will not do anything that she does not feel will look good on you.

I have been benefitting from the hair care of Yvonne and Debbie for more years than I care to remember. I am always welcomed as a crazy haired woman, with awful roots, and I am turned out time after time with a gorgeous hairdo that is just right for me!! Thank you wonderful ladies.

I have been going for years. Everyone so friendly and professional. Excellent service.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will my semi permanent colour last?
Most results last 4 to 8 weeks or around 20 washes. Longevity depends on shade depth, hair porosity and how often you shampoo. It fades evenly with no harsh regrowth line.
Will semi permanent colour cover grey hair?
It blends and softens grey rather than covering 100%. The result looks natural and low contrast. For full coverage, we can advise on permanent colour options.
Can semi permanent colour lighten my hair?
No. Semi permanent colour adjusts tone or deepens shade but does not lift natural pigment. If you want lighter, highlights or permanent colour are required.
Do I need a skin test before colouring?
Yes for new colour clients, or if your formula changes. A quick skin test is required at least 48 hours before colour to ensure safety.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Arrive with hair free from heavy styling products and oils, and bring any inspiration photos. If you are adding a cut or blow-dry, allow extra time for the finish.
Can I book colour and a cut together?
Yes, many clients have both on the same visit. If you are new to colour or would like a change you will need to book in for a free consultation with Yvonne our colour specialist before making your appointment.
